This weekend the Benjamin Motorsports Irving racing team headed North of the Border to Halifax Nova Scotia. On Saturday we returned to the track and won our qualifying heat and that would put us on the pole for the Atlantic Cat 250.

In Epping New Hampshire on Wednesday night the Irving Team took to the track at All Star  Speedway. We qualified 7th a few weeks ago and then the rain came. At the start of the race we ran in the top 5 until a caution around lap 100 and we decided to pit for fresh right side tires. We quickly got into the top 5 again and with 30 laps to go we got to 2nd and on the final restart we dropped back to 5th and that's how the race would end.
The Irving Racing team headed into Groveton this weekend just 4 points out of the lead for the Championship. We were hoping for another top 5 finish and after our heat draw we had a lot of work to do. We drew 10th for the first heat race. After the heat we finished 7th and that would start us 13th for the feature. During the feature the first 61 laps were caution free and we worked our way up to 8th. On the next restart we dropped back to 11th and as the skies started to darken we knew we had to make our move. On lap 100 we were 5th and during the next 30 laps we got to second and tried running down Johnny Clark but the rains came and ended our chance of a win. But for the championship we are now tied for the lead going into All Star Speedway in Epping this Wednesday.

The Benjamin Motorsport/Irving Oil team raced into Thompson International Speedway.

It was a great day for racing and in the qualifying heat the team started 7th and would finish third which would start the team 4th for the Full Fender Frenzy 75 laps main event. For the first half of the race Travis was running in the top 5. With a caution on the final lap would set up a green white checkered finish and as the checkers flew we were 3 wide crossing the finish line and would end up 6th. Another top 10 for the team and this weekend we head north to Antigonish Nova Scotia and will race in the IWK 250 with Regan Smith and Aric Almirola.

  BENJAMIN BIRTHDAY BASHES

It was like a big birthday party in the Travis Benjamin pit on Saturday. Race day was also his son Kaiden's first birthday. “We came down last night to try and relax - me, him and the wife. We were going to try and go to Chuck E. Cheese this morning, but we didn't make it,” said Travis Benjamin. “So we're going to have a big party for him tomorrow. If we had been racing on his birthday party, I'd be in trouble. It's bad enough racing on his birthday.” That wasn't the only birthday celebration that involved the Benjamin clan. “There's another kid who cheers for me, Matthew, who is having his fifth birthday,” said Benjamin. “So I went over and had some cake with him. After the heat race. It's everyone's birthday, so the pressure is on the run good.”
